Royal Oak's
ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
March 16, 2002
The temperature was below freezing and the wind-chill was about -100 degrees but the show must go on.  Twenty Minivan Moms, four banner carriers and our official photographer braved the elements to participate for the first time in the Royal Oak St. Patrick's Day Parade.  The cold and the early morning start time of 9 AM may have been responsible for the small turnout of spectators but their enthusiasm and encouragement for us more than made up for their size.  We also had a last minute addition to our Bridge Routine when former Governor James Blanchard, who was walking behind our group, made his way down the center.  Chris and Cheryl also gave him respite in their warm minivan.  I think one of the highlights of the march was the moment we started and all the photographers descended upon us.  Two great pictures appeared in the Daily Tribune and the Oakland Press.
We were all very glad when we saw this little blue house.
We were doing a lot of huddling before the start of the parade.
Displaying some original moves!
